Overview

The Intellectual Property practice group handles all aspects of intellectual property law relating to trademarks and service marks, geographical indications, copyright, trade secrets, and confidential information.

Registration

  • Comprehensive registration practice including trade / service mark registration and registration of geographical indications
  • Co-ordination of foreign registrations, management of international trade mark portfolios and monitoring of domestic trade marks registers

Advisory

  • Provision of comprehensive and pro-active advice on the management, exploitation and protection of intellectual property rights in Malaysia, including trade / service marks (including well- known marks), geographical indications, copyrights and trade secrets / confidential information

Litigation

  • Conduct litigation in respect of all areas of intellectual property including the prosecution and defence of infringement actions and passing off, rectification / cancellation and invalidation proceedings, appeals from the various registries to the High Courts, domain name disputes, internet-related disputes and disputes relating to trade secrets

Commercial Transactions

  • Advising on commercial transactions involving intellectual property rights including license agreements, franchise agreements, manufacturing / distribution agreements and assignments / transmissions, handling negotiations and preparing the necessary documentation

IP Audits

  • Conduct audits to take an inventory of all intellectual property rights within an organisation, to catalogue the same and ensure all actions for adequate protection of the same have been taken
